aziA1-A5はmodular NRPS genesで、推定産物は非定型的なNRPS systemを構成する。

aziA1: NRPS (AL-PCP)

AL=acyl-CoA ligase
AziA1-ALの基質特異性を与えるコードはGIHTTGSQIK(unusual substrate)と同定。

AziA1は、acyl-CoA ligase(AL)とPCPに関与する2つの触媒活性を持つbifunctional proteinであり、
おそらく 3-methoxy-5-methyl-naphthoic acid(NPA)の活性化を担う。

NRPS AziA1の基質特異性について報告あり。

di-domain NRPS AziA1 は、普通でないA domainを介して3-methoxy-5-methyl-NPAを特異的に取り込み、azinomycin Bの骨格形成を開始する。

AziA1 は自然なstarter unitの類似体も活性化したことから、NPA部分で異なる新規azinomycin類似体産生の可能性が示唆されている。
