Streptomyces rochei F20で、Msr-ORF1とMsr-ORF2は、ABC transporter superfamily のメンバーであるATP-binding proteinとtransmembrane proteinに各々似ていた。msrを破壊しても形質変化は認められず、行った実験条件では発現が検出されず、inducerの発見には至っていない。msrのプロモーター領域をexpressing promoterに入れ替えたプラスミドを作成し、Streptomyces lividans TK21に形質転換させると、薬剤や化学物質(doxorubicin, oleandomycin, erythromycin, tetracycline, spiramycin, streptothricin, tobramycin, novomycin, streptomycin, chloramphenicol, phenol, pentachlorophenol, tetrachlorohydroquinone, ethidium bromide)に抵抗性を示した。

doxorubicin(DXR) or daunorubicin(DNR)の添加で活性が上昇。
DrrBはABC-2 type transporterといわれているもの。
