The National Institute of Technology and Evaluation (NITE) today announced the signing of a Cooperative Agreement with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).

  • - NITE, in conjunction with the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, signed a Cooperative Agreement with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission on November 29, 2006, that includes exchanges of information and personnel.
  • - The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission is an independent agency (established in 1973) charged with protecting the public from unreasonable risks of serious injury or death from more than 15,000 types of consumer products under the agency's jurisdiction.
    - This is the first official collaboration on guidelines for consumer safety between Japan (NITE) and an overseas authority.
