- Among the product accident information reported to the Product Safety Technology Center, there have been many accidents occurred due to lighters. Some of them had occurred due to playing with fire by children or improper use, and more than one accident have been causing death or serious injuries. Accidents due to playing with fire by children have widely covered recently nonetheless. Thus, to prevent accidents with lighters, it’s considered necessary for consumers to understand the mechanisms of accidents properly, and NITE decided to conduct a promotion of consumers’ awareness.
