The National Institute of Technology and Evaluation (NITE) held a press briefing on the prevention of accidents due to electric wheel chairs with handles.

Among the product accident information reported to the Product Safety Technology Center, many accidents have been occurred with electric wheel chairs with handles, and most of the causes of such accidents are due to improper use or carelessness. The accidents are falls, rollover and collisions, ratio of causing death and/or serious injuries is high. In order to prevent these accidents, NITE decided to offer information on items users have to be aware upon riding, checking, and driving them as well as the information on accidents to conduct promotion of consumers’ awareness.
