urdamycin clusterに含まれるglycosyltransferase候補genes=urdGT1a, urdGT1b, urdGT1cについて、mutant作成、相補実験における蓄積産物解析を行い、各機能割り当てが確定されている。

UrdGT1cは、urdamycin A生合成においてC-9での3糖側鎖2番目にあるL-rhodinoseの付着を担うO-glycosyltransferaseである。
3糖側鎖3番目にL-rhodinoseを持つurdamycin O, urdamycin Nの形成にも関与する。

urdamycin AなどはC-12bにも同じL-rhodinoseが付着するが、これを担うのはUrdGT1aであり、UrdGT1cは代替しない。
