tautomycetin(TTN, TMC)を合成するPKSをコードする。

(論文ではLMがmodule 1とされているが、他clustersと揃えてmodule0からのナンバリングに訂正して記載する。よってmodule6-9に相当。)

polyketide鎖形成終結と末端alkene形成について検討するため、TE domainのcloning, biochemical characterization, 2.0-Å crystal structureについて報告している論文。

TMC TEはbeta-hydroxy positionで高度な立体選択性を示すpolyketide hydrolaseであり、基質許容度が相対的に低いことがわかっている。この立体選択性に重要かもしれないAA残基の特定もしている。
