Bilateral Relation with Asian Countries/Regions
NITE has concluded the Memoranda of Understanding (MOU) and the Project Agreements (PA) with Asian countries/regions such as China, Indonesia, Korea, Mongolia, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam in accordance with the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD). The objective of our collaboration is to ensure the conservation and sustainable use of biological resources in Asian countries/regions while facilitating their effective utilization.
“The Asian Consortium for the Conservation and Sustainable Utilization of Microbial Resources (ACM)” was established in 2004 with the participation of 12 countries in Asia. Currently 25 organizations in 14 countries/regions are the members of the ACM. (As of April 2017)
Collaboration with China
NITE and the Institute of Microbiology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IMCAS) of China have been cooperating since June 2005.
On January 12, 2016, the MOU on the “Conservation and Sustainable Use of Biological Resources” was renewed between NITE and IMCAS.
The objective of the collaboration is to strengthen, promote and enhance cooperation between two organizations in the field of biotechnology to better serve users of biological resources in both countries.
