The National Institute of Technology and Evaluation (NITE) held a press briefing on the prevention of accidental fire involving "Electric Cooking Stoves" with protruding switch knobs.

In response to frequent accidents due to electric cooking stoves with protruding switch control units, NITE held a press briefing to promote awareness and prevent the recurrence of such accidents.

*Preventive measures
As preventive measures, NITE promoted the safety of consumers by providing accident information on the internet etc, and distributing the "Mi-mamori Handbook" as well as issuing a NITE Alert on January 13, 2005.
NITE will continuously promote consumers' awareness at the Product Safety Inspection Seminars sponsored by METI and product safety education seminars for consumers held by consumer affairs centers nationwide.
